Field Notes

Description:

A layer of these cholla spread away from me out towards the mountains. They were spiny looking; brown towards the base, green and whitish towards the top where the cholla branched out into multiple arms in random directions.

Habitat:

The desert was hot and dry, though there had been snow the day before in the area. A field of these cholla was just off the side of the main road through Joshua Tree National Park.
