Field Notes

Description:

Green birds with yellow bellies, yellow-orange beaks, a bit of red highlight just above the beak, with a few other spots of red around the neck.

Habitat:

By day, these birds were all over in the trees and on buildings around the small city of San Juan del Sur. At night, at least a hundred of them would gather together in a big tree, in the yard of a hostel in the middle of town. Tropical area, very warm. Rainy off and on.

i've never seen parrots/parakeets flying freely.. I've always seen them in a cage..
@Marta - I don't remember any of them having a full red mask, so I'm not sure that's the right species.
