Description:
20-100 cm. Also known as the Meadow Pea and Meadow pea-vine, is a perennial legume.
The Meadow vetchling is in flower from May to August (so it was unusual to find these flowers in this time of the year), and the seeds ripen from July to September. The hermaphrodite flowers are pollinated by bees. As a perennial, this plant reproduces itself over many years. As other legumes its roots are in symbiosis with molds which help them to fix nitrogen.
Habitat:
The Meadow vetchling is native to Europe and Asia, but has been introduced to other parts of the world.
Found in wet grasslands, marshy meadows and open woodlands.
