Field Notes

Description:

The closer I got to this flock of Vultures, the stronger the smell and they went back to their job as I walked past. A raccoon had likely been hit on the road. You can see his tail. Black bodies, grey heads with no feathers on the head.

Habitat:

I see this group on and off in our area. They sleep in big trees in a group and start out one by one in the morning to get a drink before looking for breakfast. They do a wonderful job of cleaning up road kill and other animals that have died and should be respected for it.

Notes:

The dominant bird was the one in the last picture. He hissed the others away.

Very nice to actually see them doing their jobs in a urban surrounding. I wish that we had birds of prey who let us come so closely. Most birds of prey we have are very easely scared.
Thanks a lot and Welcome to HUNTER Mission .
Yummy :-D Lucky birds :-)
