Field Notes

Description:

This is a male! This gorgeous little guy has a bright, red chin, throat and breast. Down the centre of his body is a bold, black stripe with white on either side. His head is black which extends down over his back.

Habitat:

Flying around in scrub land behind some sand dunes at Cable Beach.

The only Australian representative of the flowerpecker family..i used to know them as Flowerpecker birds , when i lived on the mainland ...yet another we don't get down here in Tasmania :( Thanks for the spotting , its amazing all the things you forget after 10yrs being away from Sydney.
