Field Notes

Description:

Black body with a lot of white spots, box shape.
I barely caught a glimpse of this fish and was lucky to catch it on camera (I couldn't see the screen as I took photographs).

Habitat:

The warm, clear waters of the Southwestern Caribbean, along the shore of a tiny Colombian island. These fish rush out from under the dock to dart in between the legs of a vendor who sells shrimp cups to tourists landing on the island - he is chopping constantly, and drops the leftover pieces in the water, which is where the fish chow down.

Notes:

This fish was swimming around amongst the Sergeant-Majors, Grunts and others, but was much more conservative in its ventures and didn't stray to far from the dock.
I'm fairly certain it is the Smooth Trunkfish...
