Sarah, this is a Muscovy Duck which is native to Mexico and Central and South America. They are a heavy breed and have claws that allow them to roost in trees. The drake has a low breathy call, and the hen a quiet trilling coo. They do not quack like other breeds of ducks. They are very personable and enjoy human contact. I am a farmer and have 5 adults and 9 ducklings on the farm.
Sarah, I am not so sure about your suggestion - the Pekin Duck has an orange nib (same color as the feet). This one has orange feet and a red nib. But to be honest, I am far away from being a bird-specialist...
