Field Notes

Description:

Also known as Moray Eels, Nebulous Moray Eel, Clouded Moray, Snowflake Moray, Flowery Eel, Starry Moray Eel and Diamond-backed Moray. This eel is usually solitary, and feed on fish and invertebrates.

Habitat:

Inshore protected reef flats and harbors, hiding in dead coral and crevasses.

Notes:

I photographed this eel at a depth of less than 5 meters. I was surprised to see it out in the open, and when I approached to take a closer look, it was pretty feisty and aggressive.
