Field Notes

Habitat:

This Short-winged Rice Grasshopper was spotted in our backyard, at the edge of a rice field. It was resting on an unidentified plant, in a patch of weeds.

Notes:

Acrididae; Oxyinae; Oxyini; Pseudoxya diminuta (Walker, 1871).According to Wikipedia, this is the only species in the Genus Pseudoxya. So, the Genus is referred to as being "monotypic". The terms "unispecific" or "monospecific" mean exactly the same and are sometimes preferred. The presence of P. diminuta in the Philippines is confirmed by https://pictureinsect.com/region/Philippines-Lanao-del-Sur.html.....
