Description:
Crown and nape black; black wedge extends below eye, forming a distinctive helmut, absent in Praire Falcon or Merlin.
Habitat:
Occurs in a tremendous variety of habitats throughout its enormous range, but the availability of cliffs or buildings for nesting and roosting is a common denominator of most peregrine home ranges.
Notes:
Peregrine Falcons have used nesting locations in downtown Salt Lake City since 1984. This pair has successfully bred for at lest 6 of the past 7 years although a number of the hatchlings did not survive through their first winter.
