Description:

The meadow mouse or vole is abundant in the grassland areas of Mount Diablo. Voles make runways through the grass. They feed on grass, seeds, roots, and bark.

The population of kites has increased to 5. I saw a bobcat that was so skinny.It is probably competing with these kites for food.
Difference between mice and voles. Mice have bare ears, longer tails, white undersides and pointed nose. Voles are plump, shorter tail, hair on ears that also cover the front of the ears to prevent dirt from getting in when they burrow.
