Weaver Ants

Oecophylla smaragdina

Thank you, but it's definitely not a weaver ant. I'm leaning towards it being a California Harvester Ant.
Ants are often hard to ID, at least for me. This may be a harvester ant (Pogonomyrmex). I got stung by one once and it wasn't a pleasant sensation. This particular ant looks a little like a weaver ant, but I'm not sure weaver ants live in southern California and while I'm sure weaver ants sometimes descend to the ground they are tree-dwelling obligates.
