Field Notes

Description:

Small frog, bright red eyes, light green body, sticky pads on toes

Habitat:

tropical forest, roadside vegetation

Notes:

Red-eyed tree frogs are nocturnal but I spotted this one during the day and in an unlikely location. I was walking the main highway that runs through the Golden Stream Corridor Preserve and I saw this little frog sleeping on a leaf on a small bush about 3m (10') from the road. I was really excited to see it because it was my first time seeing a red-eyed tree frog. I had to wake him up for a few minutes to take some photos but then left him as he was. This is spotting #3600!
