Field Notes

Description:

Large green caterpillar (aprox 5-6cm long), with two thin yellow lines along the back and small black marks with white center. Yellow head.

Edit: a species of moth of the family Noctuidae.

Habitat:

Meadow in montane zone, somewhere between 1000-1200m altitude. Coniferous forest nearby, a few young firs, spruce trees very close to the spot.

Notes:

It was moving quite fast so I couldn't get a very good shot. I think it might be something in the Sphingidae family, but I couldn't identify the species.

EDIT: Noctuidae family, thanks SukanyaDatta for the ID!
