The rock scorpion is about 4cm long but can get a bit larger. The local wood scorpion is locally common in the bush http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/7877206 and the brown one is the marbled scorpion and found on sandy soils such as on the peninsula. These two are tiny.

Australia has zero recorded fatalities by scorpion sting. Compare that with Mexico or Egypt!

Too many phobias Carol. We don't have dangerous scorpions in Australia, in spite of their reputation. This has large nippers which implies low venom. Still painful.
