Description:

I'm not sure what's going on with this spotting. It appears to be a Tussock Moth cocoon with another egg case attached to the bottom. There are moth eggs visible in the bottom opening. There's another opening on the Tussock moth cocoon on the end. Predation or just one cocoon with two compartments?

Habitat:

Willow tree at Lagoon

I haven't been able to return to this one but I saw another one in chaparral. Apparently it's pretty common in various habitats.

I may be able to find it if I return to the lagoon but it won't be for at least a week.

How strange, looks like parasitism of the cocoon? Can you save it and watch what comes out?
