Field Notes

Description:

Throat and head gray, with yellow belly. Dark back, with the relatively large head and feathers of the tuft maintained stubbly. Beak dark and strong. Tail long, the same tone of the back. On the wings, two light bands and clear edges in flight feathers. This species, Myiarchus swainsoni and Myiarchus tyrannulus are very similar, difficult to identify even for experts. The beak is all black, although the details can only be observed closely and with great light.

Habitat:

Remains resting below the crown, whether in forests, whether in open areas. Use from the tall trees to the small bushes under the forest to rest, and live in open grassland areas. It spends most of the time motionless, perched in the middle stratum of the forest edges.
