Field Notes

Description:

Small white balls, somewhat shriveled (as opposed to fully inflated/spherical).

Habitat:

In volcanic cinders (used as ground cover) alongside old helmet (conch - cassis cornuta) shell; near some decorative shrubs and vegetable garden.

Notes:

Spotted in suburban garden. Reminiscent of Tulostoma sp. Slightly out of focus; original medium Kodak TMax 100 negative film; image recorded with handheld Minolta 700si, 50mm close-up lens, yellow filter; negative subsequently scanned and image saved as digital file.
