Description:

several shelf fungi attached to tree, colored from black to mottled brown-and-beige, like a buttermilk pancake

Habitat:

tropical upland forest of mixed trees, ferns, vines and grasses

Notes:

spotted along Aiea Ridge Trail; sometimes called dinner plate fungus,a name especially appropriate for the low fungus on this totem pole
