Field Notes

Description:

Speckled like coarse sand. Approximately 60mm.
Within 100 metres of Kottivakkam beach.

Habitat:

Sandy ocean-side south India (Kottivakkam) 100 metres from shoreline within fishing village.

Notes:

This was inside a clay pot into which I could just fit my hand and small pocket camera. He looked so similar to the ones at home (Australia) These are also known as fisher spiders. Might be Dolomedes tenebrosus? Might be Heteropoda venatoria? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heteropoda_venatoria
