Field Notes

Description:

Small red-pink and yellow skeleton shrimp blending into their surroundings. (It's the lighter area of the plant in the center of the picture)

Habitat:

Spotted hiding in tide pools at La Jolla Shores.

Notes:

If these creatures weren't moving so much I would have never seen them. I was already digging around under grasses and other plants so nobody would have noticed these tiny things about the width of a paper clip and as long as a hole punched circles in a piece of paper.
The first photo shows how well it blends in with its habitat.
These photos were taken with my mom's camera.

Haha! Ya these little guys are really weird. I had no idea these things existed and I didn't know there was a species of shrimp this small. They have such good camouflage-it's a miracle I even saw it. :)
i can't tell where the shrimp is on the first pic.. hehehe
