Field Notes

Description:

Reddish brown, ruffled jelly fungus. The second photo shows a nice side-by-side comparison with another member of the genus, but I am not 100% sure whether it is Exidia nigricans or Exidia glandulosa.

Habitat:

I found some on fallen branches and some on small, standing trees on dead twigs and branches. This part of the forest had a lot of old oak trees as well as some white pine, white birch, and beech.
