Field Notes

Description:

One of two types of all white hoofed mammals found in Alaska (the other being Dall Sheep). Easily distinguished by their small black horns. Males average close to 300 lbs. while females average close to 200 lbs.

Habitat:

Rocky mountain ledges.

Notes:

Obviously a long shot for my camera, but I got enough to distinguish them. If you look closely at the second photo, you can see a male, a female, and a kid following closely behind one another.
