Description:

Delicate purple flower with four fused petals. Green fruit ripen to orange.

Notes:

Solanum group includes the toxic nightshades and potato. It also includes tomato, capsicum and chilli.

Yep Bush Tucker alright martinl.... they have to be really ripe (almost red) and even then they are very bush tuckerish :) sour, bitey etc. I wouldn't recommend eating a lot of them in one go.
I didn't know they are edible. Bush Tucker I guess. I never quite trust Solanum.
people eat the fruit when it's that colour (and possums etc.)
I quite understand now, the leaves are quite distinctive.
I,ve added a pic of the leaves to illustrate looking like a kangaroo footprint.
No I don't think so. In fact the leaves have three points and look similar in outline to a kangaroos footprint. I think the name comes from that.
