Description:

Large round, fungus looking organism with an orange underside and black top.

Habitat:

Spotted at La Jolla Shores during low tide.

Notes:

My little sister found this on the edge of a rock near the pounding waves.

Nice. Nearly every time I visit it ends up being sunny like California follows me up there, but I really enjoy the rain. It's one of the best times to look for critters like snails and slugs. If it wasn't so uncomfortable, I would love to see what happens at the beach in the rain.
We're supposed to get an entire week of sunshine... or what passes for it in late November/early December. Kind of a surprise in this "La Nina" double dip year, but I"ll take it!
Thanks Karen. I would certainly expect it to be raining up in Oregon. It's too bad I moved from there before I started my hobby of taking photos, but I'm sure to visit again and take some nice shots. :)
