Description:

petiolate base leaves that blooms in the later spring on an erect, 18" to 32" [45 to 80 cm] long, subdense, cylindric, 25 to 40, successively flowered inflorescence with ligulate, acuminate, concave, hyaline, purple tinted, 3 nerved floral bracts

Habitat:

Found in evergreen cloud forests in Michoacan, Oaxaca and Chiapas states of Mexico as well as Guatemala and Honduras at elevations of 2000 to 2700 meters
