Description:

The branches on this young spruce were weighted down with the first major snowfall of the season, but began to spring back once the wind shook some of the snow off.

Habitat:

Edge of mixed forest

Notes:

Red spruce is an important winter cover for wildlife, and was the main source of spruce gum for Maine's chewing gum industry 100 years ago.
