Description:

This is a spider wasp (of the cosmopolitan Family Pompilidae). They are are solitary, and most capture and paralyze prey. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spider_wasp

Habitat:

This spotting in a large semi-urban yard & garden next to a disturbed patch of remnant lowland forest.

Notes:

This spotting resembles images of Priocnemis bicolor, the orange spider wasp (taken in Australia) http://www.brisbaneinsects.com/brisbane_wasps/OrangeSpiderWasp.htm
