Field Notes

Description:

This fungi was very moist, but not a jelly type. It is less than attractive (to me personally), but so cool because I have never found this kind before. The bunch shown here is about 10 inches in length.

Habitat:

Woodlands of Beltzville State Park near Pohopoco Creek.

Species ID Suggestions

Comments (5)

Suggest the Bracket fungi - Fomitopsis cajanderi (can get large / dark with age and likes conifers)
Most of the trees on the trail were some type of Pine. I will post an example of the trees.
The temps get pretty low here at night with frost everyday for a week, but the day (and there was a little sun hitting it) was in the 60's.
