Field Notes

Description:

A flock of anis waking up. They are quite common in the Venezuelan Andes.

Habitat:

Mérida, Venezuela

Notes:

These birds can be found nearby cattles. They don't fear humans, live and move in groups, and can be extremely noisy. This species is called "El pijul" in Venezuelan folklore. I saw many nest in bamboo trees.
