Field Notes

Description:

White spores print, grows in clusters with common base or as solitary fruit, stem white with pink hue early, turning yellow with age, cap light brown with darker center and fine hairs, gills white turning tan with age. This cluster was one of a multitude growing near an old stump I'm a wooded area.

Habitat:

Wooded lot near long dead stump, never growing directly on wood that I could see.

Notes:

Curious if this belongs in the armillaria family. If so, I can't wait for its return this spring so we can eat it with confidence.
