Field Notes

Habitat:

in the margin between the grassland, that is maintained using controlled burns, and the wooded area

Notes:

Rose hips are used for herbal tea, jam, jelly, syrup, soup, beverages, pies, bread, wine, and marmalade. They can also be eaten raw, like a berry, if care is used to avoid the hairs inside the fruit. They are a good source of vitamin C. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rose_hip
