I have now found lots of these, this time on Acacia (at Yarra Bend) as predicted by argybee. These ones are orange (see pic #4) rather than yellow as the first one on Casuarina was.

I like the 'spats' he's wearing.... but not quite the same as your ladybird. We've had only one dose of the Orcus australasiae that I've noticed in 12 years and it was on a black wattle. I think it was in 2006. Didn't have a camera then unfortunately.

Yes that's my first. Check this leaf beetle. Except for the cheeks, its a good mimic. Also on the same foodplant. (Well, I guess only the leaf beetle is eating the plant.) http://www.brisbaneinsects.com/brisbane_leafbeetles/EightSpotted.htm
