Feeding on flowering ti tree

Notes:

This beetle times its appearance to the flowering season of ti trees. They have a foul taste and other insects imitate them for protection.

Thanks Latimeria. I thought I didn't know what net-winged beetles were but was quite familiar with these common lycid beetles with their several different colored species and many other species imitating them. eg. http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/7911669 You've filled in a blank for me:)

Yes indeed Martin! Each beetle in the family Lycidae is referred to as a net-winged beetle. That's the only name I included for my spotting because that species didn't have a common name.
