Field Notes

Description:

About 8cm, oval shape compressed laterally, with a round profile, orange to reddish-brown, with three vertical white stripes outlined with a fine black line.

Habitat:

Spotted at Flores Sea, near Komodo, Indonesia, coral reef area.
This species is found in the Eastern Indian Ocean and the western Pacific Ocean, they can also be found in Northern Australia, Southeast Asia and Japan.

Notes:

Once they find their anemone, they form a symbiotic relationship, the clownfish feeds on the scraps left from the anemone's meals and occasional dead tentacles and defends the anemone from its predators and parasites, the anemone also picks up nutrients from the clownfish excrement.
