The Gulf fritillary, Agraulis vanillae (Linnaeus), is a brightly colored orange butterfly common across The area around San Francisco. At home in most open, sunny habitats, it frequents roadsides, disturbed sites, fields, open woodlands, pastures, yards, and parks.

Seen on flowers on a farm in a rural area.
