Field Notes

Description:

I helped this beauty out of our screen-in tent while we were camping. Black wasp with translucent, light amber wings. Pointed abdomen. Thin, sharp mandibles. Short, pale hairs on body and legs. These wasps are parasitoids of beetle larvae.

Habitat:

Temperate forest. Cedar Point County Park, NY.
