Field Notes

Description:

I was surrounded by more than 200 00 King Penguins and the action was dramatic with so many adults, chicks and sub-adults completely covering the rugged landscape. I had this image in my mind before even leaving for my expedition and it was undoubtedly one of my most wanted images ever. I was in complete awe with the sight, when the rain unexpectedly came down and painted the perfect canvas for this harsh environment. It started to rain heavier but I couldn’t move away from this incredible exhibition in front of me as I shot frame after frame of the residents of South Georgia’s, Salisbury Plain.

Habitat:

Subantarctic islands and waters
