Antennae shorter than body, but longer than pronotum.

Family Acrididae

Habitat:

These are the most familiar of the saltatorians, the insects that live among the grasses and serenade us in the meadows on summer afternoons.As their name suggests, grasshoppers frequent grass and other low-growing vegetation but many of them have a very definite habitat preference.
