I wonder if this the same as yours, being much less hairy. http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/11750014
Another contender for the adult of this nymph http://gvcocks.homeip.net/Hemiptera/Scutelleridae/lampromicra_senator%20.htm
And i've still never seen the adult...I'll have to keep going back to that hill=/ http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/6858595
Phew.. so many bugs so many instars. It's a huge jigsaw puzzle.
Welcome Martin... I think this Bug is so spectacular and famous...!!
Thanks Ashish. I've seen this but could not confirm the nymph is the same species as ive never seen the adult. Now i've just found them both confirmed to be the same species by this site. http://morwellnp.pangaean.net/cgi-bin/show_species.cgi?find_this=Scutiphora%20pedicellata&image_letter=a&show_image=../images/full_size/Scutiphora_pedicellata_a&show_date=2006-01-15&show_caption=5th%20instar%20nymph%20of%20Metallic%20Shield%20Bug%20on%20White%20Elderberry%20(Sambucus%20gaudichaudiana)%20in%20Fosters%20Gully Therefore this seems to be the correct ID for my nymph=)
Is this different Jewel bug other than this spotted..? http://www.brisbaneinsects.com/brisbane_stinkbugs/MetallicShieldBug.htm
This nymph will look like this adult=) http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/6639654
Pics 5 and 6 are not related. They are Coleotichus sp. http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/8386585
I've found another instar=) http://www.flickr.com/photos/31400835@N03/4223537323
I also have found some pretty amazing stink bugs. Very colorful!
Yes they do. The adults fly off or drop very easily.
Are these the ones that back off around a stem when they see you? Amazing that the nymphs are so striking and the adults so dull - hard to believe they are the same.
