Field Notes

Description:

The cap of this mushroom is dark red, being darker in the centre of the cap. Also in the centre of the cap there is a depression. In the places where part of the cap was removed, it's possible to see white flesh, that does not change colour when touched. The diameter of the cap is approximately 5 cm.

It's a laminated mushroom, and its gills have a fishy smell. In the place where the gills contact with the periphery of the cap it is seen that the gills have a wavy pattern, and are brown instead of white, as in the rest of the hymenophore.

Habitat:

It was growing in the soil alongside with dead leaves. Another similar mushroom was near this one.

The forest in which it was growing has mainly oak trees.
