Description:

A primitive looking unidentified shield bug.

Habitat:

This bug was photographed on yellow walking iris (Neomarica longifolia) in a large semi-urban yard & garden on the edge of a disturbed patch of remnant forest.

sorry S Frazier I was looking at Pentatominae within Pentatomidae (...crazy naming ...)

That's right, the family Pentatomidae includes some of the stink bugs and shield bugs.
