Field Notes

Description:

Lyramorpha sp. shield bug nymphs of varying degrees of development sharing the same tree branch. Papua photo link for genus here http://www.papua-insects.nl/insect%20orders/Hemiptera/Heteroptera/unide…

Habitat:

Spotted in a kedondong tree (Spondias dulcis) in a large semi-urban yard & garden located beside a disturbed patch of remnant lowland forest.

Notes:

The insects were above my head so the focus isn't sharp. The last photo shows an adult shield bug that was close by, perhaps of the same species.

Yes they stink, and the chemical they release will burn your skin, leaving a mark for a couple of weeks...
Colorful creatures...but it is smally right? very sting!!!
