Field Notes

Description:

A large skipper butterfly as compared to most other skippers. This picture was taken 2 - 3 days back and obviously was not in any natural surrounding. It was actually on a curtain hanging inside a local temple in this part of south Vietnam, Tiengiamg Province.

Habitat:

This skipper is reported commonly seen around palms even on banana trees. And so it has another common name - Banana Skpper. Well, i am from Singapore and had seen and photoed many other skippers but not so with Banana Skipper even we do have palms and banana trees around.
From web readings, this beautiful buttetfly is a pest to farmers ans the victims are banana trees.
