Field Notes

Description:

Large grey bird with long neck. Blackish head and upper neck with a dull red patch on the nape. A distinctive white band from behind eye along the sides of the neck. They tend to stay in large groups. Eats shoots of grass and cereal crops, tubers, grain, insects and small reptiles.

Habitat:

Seen at the Wild ass sanctuary.
