Field Notes

Description:

Xylotrechus colonus has dark elytra with a sinuate yellowish transverse band at base. The elytra have three additional transverse bands made up of grayish pubescence. The pronotum is about as wide as long.

Larvae feed may be found feeding in almost any species of hardwood, also in pine. Adults are attracted to lights.

Notes:

The eyes notched near the antennal base, a common trait in the Longhorned Beetle family
