Field Notes

Description:

Large pinkish brown mushroom(one of the two was about 10 inches across the top of the cap) with fairly shallow, folded/forked gills.

Habitat:

coastal forest, during winter

Notes:

I have never seen this one before and I hike these trails all the time. Looks something like a cross between a chanterelle relative and a large lactarius or russula
