Description:

A leathery flower appears to be left over from a previous season on this specimen. These are often hidden under fallen leaves, ants and other crawling insects being the pollinators of choice.

Habitat:

USA: AL , FL , GA , KY , LA , MS , NC , SC , TN , VA
Native Distribution: Southeastern North America, Zones 6 to 8
Native Habitat: Southeastern forests, dry to moist

Notes:

Spotted along Vineyard Mountain Eagle Scout Trail at the Riverside Day Use Park
