Field Notes

Habitat:

Farming area

Notes:

First snow goose I've ever seen! Traveling with a very large flock of Canadian geese. Feeding in farmers field. I've heard the snow goose never lands in this area just flies over while it migrates.

Interesting..thanks. I googled pics of the white Chinese goose and noticed they have a large bump at the top of their beaks which this one didn't have...and the leucistic Canadian goose was the wrong colouring. This goose had a black tip on its tail feathers and wings that suggest snow goose. I noticed some pics of snow geese seem stocky while others have longer necks. Either way, very curious looking goose for ontario even. I love project Noah!
Considering its size, I doubt it's a Snow Goose. Snow Geese are around 28", while Canada Geese in your range would be 45". A Snow Goose would not only be smaller, but stockier in appearance with a shorter neck. This bird highly resembles a feral White Chinese Goose, but leucistic Canada Goose is also a possibility.
Best pic I could get with my iPhone with out disturbing the gander.
