Could this be Penicillifera apicalis - of the Bombycidae family...?
Still haven't got further than seeing a similarity in wing shape with Apatelodes sp. http://mothphotographersgroup.msstate.edu/slow.php?plate=18&size=s&sort=h
This was a pretty small moth... Am just trying to find a match to its distinctive wing shape.
Are you sure it is at size of Hawk Moths..?
Might this moth belong to the superfamily Bombycoidea? Genus Apatelodes?
May be one of Narrow winged type.
